These are industrial printers, so they take the large 76mm-core rolls that desktop printers can't. A bigger roll means fewer roll changes on a busy line.

Common questions
What's the difference between the ZT111 and ZT231? They take the same labels and ribbons. The ZT231 is faster: up to 305mm/sec at 203 dpi, against 254mm/sec on the ZT111.
Will desktop ribbons fit a ZT111 or ZT231? No. Desktop printers use 74m or 300m ribbons on smaller cores. The ZT series uses 450m ribbons on a 25.4mm core.
Can I use labels on a 25mm core? Yes, as long as the roll is no more than 152mm across. For long runs, 76mm-core rolls up to 203mm across are more economical.
